The Invermay Golden Age Club hosted the Mature Driver Refresher Course on April 18th. Mike Kaminski, president, welcomed Lee Carlson, instructor with the Saskatchewan Safety Council. He facilitated the day-long refresher course for sixteen seniors who were interested in refreshing their driver knowledge and skills. The areas covered included Normal driving situations such as intersections, following distance and maintaining an “open gate” around the vehicle; hazardous driving environments such as skids, head on collision, hydroplaning, and defensive driving; traffic guidance such as sign recognition, and pavement markings; safety devices such as seat belts and air bags; and also medication awareness, vision and effective use of your eyes. The participants felt that the day was very worthwhile and informative.
