On Saturday, January 31, 2026, eight members of the Shellbrook Seniors Club, eight members of the Canwood Seniors Club, and one member of the Big River Seniors Club (all clubs within SSAI District 4) travelled to Blaine Lake to join Blaine Lake and Krydor Seniors for the third SSAI District 4 Olympic event.  Olympic events had already been held in Shellbrook and Big River in the fall.  Our fourth Olympic event will be hosted by Canwood at the end of February – a Bowling Tournament.

In Blaine Lake, we shared a delicious lunch of chili, buns and squares.  The lunch was followed by a short presentation by SSAI Provincial President, Lorraine Thibeault.  Then began the Olympic games of pool, shuffleboard, darts, corn hole, and card games.  Much laughter ensued with some serious competition and lots of bloopers.  In the darts competition, some participants were aiming for the bullseye while others were just hoping to hit the dart board.  Members played card games such as War and Go Fish – reminders of the childhood card games we used to play.  You’ll be pleased to know that Canada (played by Marilyn of Shellbrook) won against the U.S.A. (played by Linda of Shellbrook) in the War card game.

Gold, silver and bronze medals were distributed by Kitty Larson, Blaine Lake Senior Club President, to winners from all four clubs – Big River, Canwood, Shellbrook, and Blaine Lake.
