Annual Region A meeting was held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at Livelong, SK.

Sandra Halseth called the meeting to order at 10:00 AM.

Linda DeMarco welcomed all the clubs that came today to join us.  We sang “O Canada”.  The agenda was approved.  49 people attended.  Senior Prayer was read by Wayne Olsen.  Sandra Halseth chaired the meeting. Margaret Siegel did the secretary writing.

Minutes of 2025 Region A meeting held at Cut Knife were adopted and read by Wanda Weber.

SSAI President, Lorraine Thibeault spoke about having a voice in a senior group.  Especially in your club level.  There are a lot of different levels of challenge example: bowling, literary, and others.

Guest Speaker RCMP – Constable Roxane Hendricks – Fraud/Scam can be in the form of Email, phone calls, computer, romance, imposter.   4 p’s: Pretend, Problem, Pressure, Pay.

  • Make a family code “word” or “phrase”
  • Don’t be afraid to say “No”
  • hang up the phone
  • request their information
  • They play on your emotions
  • Make sure you take your time when on the phone with the scammers
  • Don’t give out your personal information
  • They can do AI generated voice messages
  • spoofing is a big one
  • we as seniors should be doing Stop -> Check -> Talk
  • verify everything

Election of Coordinators:

  • District 1 – Goodsoil, Loon Lake, Pierceland – 1 year term – Brian Farris
  • District 2 – Frenchman Butte, Livelong, Mervin – 1 year term – Sandra Halseth
  • District 3 – Edam, Meota – 1 year term – Ilene Foulds
  • District 3a – Cut Knife, Marsden, Neilburg, Maymont – 1 year term – Jean Lawes

All let their name stand for another year.  

Director is a 1-year term position; attend SSAI board meetings and work with coordinators.  

Nominations for Director:  Sandra Halseth nominated Barb Johnson.  Joan Carmichael nominated Wanda Weber.  Marion Ottis nominated Carol Pilling.  Nominations were asked 3 times.  Wanda Weber declined, Carol Pilling declined.  

Region A Director is Barb Johnson.

Volunteer Club to Host 2027 meeting will be Meota.

Clubs were asked to send in updated copy of executive contact information.
