 HELP MAKE TRANSPORTATION IN SASKATCHEWAN

BETTER for all… Including Seniors

We are looking for volunteers to take part in a study to collect information on what transportation services are needed to improve health and community services in rural Saskatchewan.

As a participant in this study, you will be asked to complete   a telephone survey
that will take about 30-45 minutes.

For more information about this study, or to volunteer for this study,
please contact:

I wanted to thank you for spreading the word about our study looking at alternative transportation options in rural Saskatchewan. I had a couple of people call me to take part in the study after a recent SSAI meeting, and greatly appreciate your help! Between SSAI and other organizations across Saskatchewan, we are getting closer to meeting our recruitment goals.

Dementia Journey Survey

(Alzheimer Society of Canada in partnership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada)

In November, I connected SSAI with Ngozi Iroanyah, Community Partnership Coordinator, Alzheimer Society of Canada, about the Dementia Journey Survey being completed in partnership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

Mike, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for including information about the survey in the SSAI Newsletter in the Winter 2021 Gray Matters. We appreciate it!

Anyone still wanting to complete the Dementia Journey Survey may do so at: https://alzheimer.ca/en/take-action/change-minds/dementia-journey-survey

Studio Without Walls

Barbara Meneley, PhD Postdoctoral Researcher Saskatchewan Arts Alliance / University of Regina

We are currently putting together a pilot program that will be delivered through Saskatchewan SCWW. We will be contracting a number of artists to develop and deliver creative workshops via telephone conferencing to older adults throughout the province who are living in their own homes. Supplies will be provided and there will be no cost to participants. Our goals are to explore whether the older adult’s involvement made a difference in their feelings of connection to their community and to contribute research that supports funding for ongoing programming for older adults in Saskatchewan.

We are interested in partnering with existing organizations, such as SSAI. We’re looking for support with outreach to potential participants, and I understand from our conversation yesterday that is something your organization / members may be able to offer. We will share our research results with project partners, and are open to including partner questions in the research we conduct.

Celebrate Canada             Saskatchewan

SSAI received financial support from Heritage Canada to host a Canada Day event on July 1, 2020. However, due to the public health order restrictions on public gatherings during the COVID pandemic, our original plans for this event were cancelled. We were granted an extension to host a virtual event before March 31, 2021.

We decided to proceed with a series of teleconference presentations. These events are free.
